I remember seeing “Star Wars: A new Hope” I was amazed. The idea of the Jedi Knights was amazing. Their ideas of Peace and the Force was inspiring to me. With the new film I can’t help but think about them again.
“Sometimes even the smallest doubt can shake the greatest belief.” - Jedi Proverb*
During the days of the old Galactic Republic there was an order of knights who were the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy. This Jedi Order relied heavily on their belief that the universe is controlled by the Force. The Jedi Knights used the light side of the Force. Where the Sith, the Jedi counterparts, used the dark side of the Force. The old Jedi based their ideals on the code, “There is no Emotion; There is Peace. There is no Ignorance; there is Knowledge. There is no Passion; there is Serenity. There is no Chaos: there is Harmony. There is no Death; there is the Force.” For the Jedi their main purpose was peace through knowledge and justice. In times of battle their weapons should only be used in self defence.**
Isaac Bashevis Singer was quoted, “Doubt is part of all religion. All the religious thinkers were doubters.” Before the Renaissance people thought the world was flat and never sailed out of the sight of land. They were stuck to the idea of land. We get stuck in our daily routines until something happens that shakes our foundation and we are forced to change. How many times have we felt an emotional pain and then just the smallest of quotes from a comic book changed our way of thinking? We all have searched the internet and found that one viral video that made us think differently. Sometimes our thinking needs to change. Sometimes we need to take a new path. Our steadfast way of thinking holds us back. There are times that we need to step back and look at doubt as a motivator. The quote by Kobi Yamada expresses a good idea “sometimes you just have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down.”
